Reclaim Your City presents the third installation in it’s devoted series showcasing talents from techno-centric regions across the globe, this time Dnepr, Ukraine and Vancouver, Canada are pinned on the map. With the Dniepr being Ukraine’s most significant navigable waterway and Vancouver being a large coastal seaport, these two cities stimulate the transfer of goods, including quality techno.
Representing Vancouver, Yan Cook, opens the EP with ‘Hacked’, a powerful, spaced out track with divergent drum patters that climb throughout the piece with the peak far out of view. Kafka’s ‘Burr’ on the other hand, an epic production, driving and deeply hypnotic, traveling at extraordinary speeds, emotions run high as you fight towards the finish. In ‘Perihelion’ The Automatic Message takes on vigorous approach with an intimidating bassline, but the track takes a surprising turn when a delicate synth emerges through the shadow.
Conversely, representing Ukraine, Stanislav Tolkachev, gives a whole other meaning to powerful with ‘Follow Me’ as an unremitting raw, chomping bassline is on a mission to destroy everything on the warpath. Subforms, explores a more tranquil approach to its voyage through the cosmos with ‘Omut’ where ominous yet calmative pads swirl in the distance while hihats and faint percussion advance the track. The digital bonus track, ‘Sidewinder’ from Quest propels you into hypnosis while vocals remind you that your feet are still on the ground.
This strong and distinguished release from Reclaim Your City is dedicated to long time companion and supporter of the label, Max_M. We shall continue this fight in your legacy.
